Gruyère and Black Pepper Biscuit Crusted Mac and Cheese

Gruyère and Black Pepper Biscuit Crusted Mac and Cheese

  • 1 c. Effie’s Gruyère and Black Pepper Biscuits (crushed) 
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 c. Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • 1 c. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 T. unsalted butter
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/4 t. nutmeg

Preheat your oven to 375F. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions.

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the Gruyère and cheddar until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni. Pour the macaroni and cheese into a baking dish. Top with the Gruyère and Black Pepper Biscuits. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.
