Chocolate Hazelnut Tart

This beautiful tart uses Hazelnut Biscuits as the base, and nutella, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and a splash of vanilla for a decadent filling. After this finishes baking, it will resemble a large brownie, and when you taste it, it’ll remind of you the best brownie you’ve ever had, but with hazelnuts! 



Chocolate Hazelnut Tart

  • 1 pkg Effie’s Hazelnut Biscuits, fine crumbs
  • 1/4 c. + 3 T. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 c. nutella or similar chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c. toasted hazelnuts

Preheat your oven to 325F.

Add the Hazelnut Biscuits to a food processor and process until the biscuits are a fine crumb.

Add the processed biscuits and 3 T. of but the melted butter Into a medium size bowl. Mix together until combined.

Butter a 9 inch tart pan. Pour the biscuit mixture into the tart pan and press it into the pan and up the sides.

Place the crust in the oven and bake for 9 minutes.

Remove the tart pan from the oven and allow to cool. Set the temperature to 350F.

Add the hazelnuts to the food processor and process until they're fine crumbs.

Make a double boiler: take out a small saucepan and add about 1 inch of water. Bring the water to a boil. Place a heatproof dish over the saucepan. Pour the nutella and the 1/4 c. melted butter into the dish. Mix to combine. Remove from the heat.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and brown sugar together.

Add the processed hazelnuts into the chocolate mixture. Add the vanilla and mix together.

Whisk the nutella mixture into the eggs and brown sugar, until smooth.

Pour the nutella mixture into the cooled tart crust and bake for 28 minutes.

Allow the tart to fully cool before serving.
